github - Git: Erasing the history of a file? -

i have been pushing repo while. @ 1 moment had base.pm perl module kept passwords. later removed passwords, since git (& github.com) remembers everything, when check "history" of base.pm file can see old versions passwords still appeared.

i want erase history of file. there easy way make this?

even if erase file, passwords have still been visible public. may continue visible via things the wayback machine. no matter what, need change passwords. once that, doesn't matter whether file stays in git or not.
